I currently searching and reading Analog design forum...
Can anyone explain what smps stands for...

It is a power supply term. There are basically two major categories in power supplies, one is linear power supplies made with low frequency transformers and regulators which acts resistively, and the other one are Switching Mode Power Supplies. They work with ferrite transformers at high frequencies, and with switching elements (either bipolar or mosfet mostly). This is a good book about SMPSs:
