Hi, Gurus,
There is an antenna design, Mr. Dr simulated and got the result as: DrXu_78G_20221011163612.jpg.
I silumlated and got the result as: My_78G_20221011163713.
The two results are so different.
I wonder what setting in HFSS can cause so difference in result.
I don't know Mr. Dr's setting, but my setting in HFSS as following:
Max Number of Passes: 20
Max Delta : 0.02
Do lamda refinement
First Order
Direct Solver
Max Delta Zo: 2%
Use Radiation Bounkdary on Ports
IE Solver options: Auto
Banlance speed and accuracy
Mesh size=5
Mesh method=auto
model resolution=auto
waveport: width=3mm(z50=0.29mm), height=1.3mm(RF board 5mil height)
Solution type=modal
driven option=network analysis

I really don't know what setting cause so big difference.

Best,
Tony Liu

You are not comparing apple to apple.
Mr.Dr simulate for Gain Total, when you simulate for Realized Gain.

The realized gain of an antenna is calculated by considering the total efficiency of the antenna, along with its directivity.
The total efficiency of the antenna considers the losses due to reflections at the input terminals as well as losses within the structure of the antenna.
