Hi.

Could somebody explain what RPM "KLW" mean, in an car, bus or truck vehicle?

I know RPM mean rotations per minute of the engine, but RPM "KLW"?
Would it be the number of rotation per minute of the alternator (battery charger) ?

I am asking because last week I've used a Mercedes-Benz automotive scanner in a Mercedes bus, and the PC software of this scanner shows two kinds of RPM values in the screen:

- RPM Instantaneous
- RPM KLW

In this Mercedes-Benz scanner, I noticed the "RPM KLW" and the "RPM Instantaneous" always have similar values.

I think this could mean the German "Kombi Lichtmaschine mit Wasserkühlung" ≙ "Combined Alternator, water-cooled", see e.g these **broken link removed**.

PS: If you think this is correct, could you possibly update your other forums' posts on the same theme?
