What microcontroller to use for traffic lights system

there is 4 direction in traffic light system at normal cases


if you are in an ambulance and the light of you is read and that about 100 mil

and you have the light front of you and the rigth and left

so you have undersanding that you have 12 line on microcontroller which

has sequences delay time on each ligth ..........


in emergency cases (my idea) to have a control of this traffic system to deal with

subroten by pressing on the device where were in ambulance if you like.


i need to to know if you could tell me what is the microcontroller i used firs!!

Hi maher_alp,

It was very hard for me to understand, but your idea is to look for the strobe from an emergency car. If so, there are products like that in the UK. They put them on the trafic light, and if they get the pulse for the emergancy car, then they change the trafic light. At night, you can confuse the trafic light with your own head light...
Regariding the MCU, you can use any one of them. As long as you have enough inputs to use...

I know that my writting is bad but


I do my project on this idea

and I am using 16f84 pic microcotroller and in the intersection would be

(red green yallow ) if the intersection was corss so i have now


4 side each of them have three colore(red green yallow )


means 12 line will be connected to 16f84 and the output must also be 12 line

to be compatable with any traffic cabines




in the case of normal traffic the input of pic 16f84 is the same output

but if I want any subroteen to my car (ambulanc , police car) to pass with the light is green , i need for extrnal bottom which contorl of such cases


so how can i used 16f84 with 13 lines ???? (Do I need for tow 16f84 PIC ) ??

if you have clear understand plz tell me

Added after 4 minutes:

sorry 12 lines for input

and 12 lines for output

and 1 for subroten


sum (12+12+1=25 lines)

so can I use Tow PIC 16f84 (How???)

how complex is your model?
is not your east and west direction signal lamps both the same?
is not your north and south direction signal lamps both the same?

You can easily add some more pins to your PIC by using MAX7300 port expander(s).
