Most popular EDA tools run only on old redhat versions such as rh7.3/es3.0, but they can not recognize SATA harddrive.

Is there a solotion that can run most EDA tools but still take advantage of recent hardwares?

Actually I was considering to start wrking using linux on my notebook, but I can't manage to find any drivers for my internal hardware.

Would someone kindly recommend which version of Linux would work well and stable with EDA tools, and how may I find the device drivers for my hardware on Linux ?!

I am using redhat 9.2 and it is very good but i don't know that it is compatible with sata disks or not.
some of manufacturers of mother boards provide appropriate drivers.
