What is the working principle of an Electronic Air Cleaner?.Do they really work???

Hi,I heard about the Electronic air cleaner..Do they really work??....actually what is the principle of working behind that???....
 

The principle of working: Cleaner fan impeller under the high-speed driving of the motor, the air in the impeller in the high-speed discharge fan, while the air suction portion to constantly replenish the feed blower. This may be with the external formation of a higher pressure differential. The nozzle of dust, dirt, with the air is sucked into the suction portion, and after the leak detector off leakage, dust, dirt collecting dust barrel.
 

okay..thank you....then is to possible to clean the whole air in a room by using this method???...
 

For air cleaning use Ionizator device, but it is still unsurpassed opening windows for ventilation.
 

BY ionizing can we purify the air???...if you don't mind can you explain a little bit more..pls
 

Lets say you will get clean air in room 5mx4m with 4-5 active smokers.

Ok..thank you....can you suggest any book or website to read more about this??..I would like to know more about this ....I googled it ,but didnt get any useful resulte...most of the results were the advertisement of the different brands...

ya..thank you very much.....then can i ask you something....actually how that circuit works.?..by using that circuit can we ionize??...it mainly contain some diodes and capacitors only..by using this, how can we???
 

Pradeep it has so many stages one stage as tepetar has rightly pointed out it is -ve ionization stage second a UV treatment dust smoke and some other filter check this link**broken link removed**
 
Yes magvitron you are correct, this is voltage multiplier to make high voltage need for making this particles. Dust and other dirt will be gathered on device electrodes as indication that device working well.
 

Thank you picgak,that link is really helpful...I got a clear idea from the user manual of that product.and thank you tpeter,but still I have a doubt ,really what is the use of this negative ions in the purification process..they can attract unwanted particles from air??...in the diagram we can see that the negative ion is used as the last section,about 6 different filtering methods are used before that...so negative ions are important in this system???


 

The ion generator charges all the airborne particles so
that they stick to (you hope) the downstream plates.
Whatever escapes sticks to something else in the room
until it neutralizes, then it's either adhered (nice, you
get to scrub later) or back in the air for another try.

They also generate some tasty ozone.

A muffin fan, some scrap wood and a furnace filter
make a dirt-cheap cleaner. If you want to kill microbes,
add some antimicrobial treatment to the filter element.
You can also spray on some dissolved baking soda for
odor elimination.
 
Thank you dick_bird....Then is it easy to design an air purifier??...Can I design it from my home??...Can I use the computer CPU fan??...and its easy to collect...but how can I make an Ionizer??....If you dont mind can you provide a block diagram...please...
 

That thing they're using there is a charge pump or a voltage multiplier. The one used here is called a cockroft walton charge pump. Please refer this for more info.

You must be aware of the mosquito zapper bat. That too has a similar setup. Can build this at home, but it can give you a pretty nasty shock if you aren't careful.
 

An automotive ignition coil and a TV high voltage rectifier
and a flyback transistor will also make you a good high
voltage low current supply, and one of the three is like
a freebie (if you hoard automotive scrap), the other two
are free on trash days (junk CRT-type TVs / monitors).
You just need a clock oscillator of a few kHz (555 timer)
to drive the flyback transistor gate.

I save muffin fans out of every PC I use up. The power
supply brick should have a mains-AC fan. The remote
fans are probably 12VDC.
