STM-1 & switch

if i have Microwave link with bandwidth STM-1 and switch cisco 3400 how much port should i use and if i have fiber module what can i do?

Re: STM-1 & switch

in other way, what is the relation between STM-1 and 100 Fullduplex

Re: STM-1 & switch

STM-1 is a TDM based transmission capacity/rate signal @ speed 155.53 Mbps
used commonly in public telecom , or Datacom networks for tranport purpose .

but 100Mbps full duplex is the speed of the fast eathernet signal which is used
in datacom networks primarily in LAN .

Re: STM-1 & switch

i have used ethernet-E1-ethernet converter, with routers. this use one port.
i think there must be some STM1-ethernet-STM1 converter. so don't know how many ports anyways.

Each STM-1 is a combination of 63 E1 links. Therefore, the only way for you (which is also the only chip solution I think) is to use various E1 to Ethernet converters. Remember, that before using it, you have to down-mix the STM1 into 63 E1. I don't know which equipment you use, but if it is a PDH, you can also use the Ethernet card of the provider; beside that, you may use an STM1 to GIGABIT Ethernet converter; and directly connect your microwave link to the cisco 3400 SFP module. The problem here is the price, indeed!
