Transistor power rating

hi guys,
I found 1W, 2W transistors with same current rating. How it is possible. What is formula to calculate power of transistor.
Thanks advance
V. Naresh Kumar.

Transistor power rating

if they have the same current rating, they proberly have different voltage span rating, so the effekt will be different !!!

Re: Transistor power rating

sorroy Mr.BWS, I didn't get.....diffferent voltage rating span means.... do you mean different Vce(sat)

Transistor power rating

different voltage span means that one transistor can handle greater voltage then the other one

yes thats what i mean :D

Transistor power rating

Or maybe a different casing .... bigger casings will help dissipate or conduct more heat to the outside I guess.
