What is the difference between power switching diodes, PiN diodes and FREDs?
According to what I have read, the main advantages of FREDs are Soft recovery, reduced EMI, etc. I'm confused because some manufacturers such as Infineon's are not FREDs but offer the same advantages. Can anyone clarify this? Also, isn't the intrinsic layer of the PiN diode the same as the Epitaxial layer of the FRED? Thanks
