what is the 'cont' in Virtuoso?

Hi i am studying layout design using virtuoso.

When I draw PMOS ESD proteciton circuit, I found 'cont'.
As you see the attached figure, a lot of small box(cont) is arranged.
what it this? which components are 'connected' by 'cont'???

In virtuoso, 'cont' is the contact for making connection between the poly and the metal.

... or between p+ on substrate and metal1, or between n+ (in n-well) and metal1; generally: between the (locally) lowest layer and metal1.
