compact actuator

Hello All,

I am looking for some of your inputs regarding what can be the best actuator in an application described below.

Linear motion of 10 mm (forward and backward) with force around 2 Kgs.
Power consumption should be as low as possible.. should be driven with supply of (strictly) 6V batteries. Speed requirements - None, No variable speed. Should be dirt cheap. smaller in size, lighter in weight.

Ok, Can a solenoid coil be used as an actuator in my case? what are the measures to take care of? Your suggestions required.
