Hi all, I am confused about this pin in SD connector. What is this pin used for?

It's a mechanical switch which is usually closed if an SD-card is inserted in the connector. It's used to detect the presence of the card.
Btw. another switch is the write-protect switch. This contact represents the position of the write-protect slider.

Thank you very much.
Does that mean when we insert a SD card or Mini SD card then this pin will be low?
And then our host will detect the insertion of the external SD card?

That's exactly the purpose of this switch
