What is "overdrive" in a comparator?

Overdrive on a comparator is simply how much one input differs from the other in a pulse test. Comparators a usually faster the more you 'overdrive' the inputs. So, if one input is held at 0V and you bring the other input from a negative voltage to 5mV, that would be 5mV overdrive. It would be slower than if you took the input to 100mV. An important characteristic of a comparator is often speed with very small amounts of overdrive.
