A LDMOS is a Lateral DMOS (High Voltage NMOS) Its structure is constructed so that the transistor can be used for high voltages and it is lateral in cross section. The IV characteristics are similar to an NMOS except when the gate voltage increases above a certain amount then the current cannot increase further and it saturates.
