These should tell the most important ................

AC and DC Variable Speed
Drives Application
Considerations

This lesson covers the parts that make up the
Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) and describes
the basic operation of each part.

what type of motors are used with conveyor belts ?

Do we need any AC or DC inverter Drive for conveyor belt motors ?

thanks

Usually 3-phase induction motor , if speed control is needed , then VFD supply for motor.
Some very small and light load conveyors are driven with steppers or BLDC-motors with motor controller.
Small and older desings use brushed DC-motors and DC-drive.

If adjustable speed is required, then a motor controller is needed.

in what criteria do we need to adjust the speed ? Can you explain few examples (industrial application) where do we need this ?

thanks though

Conveyor belts must be started slowly and ramped up to full speed, else the belt will break or the motor will burn out because of the high stiction of the load.
