what is block floating point format
is it a way of representing different fractions with same exponent ?

The concept of float point type numbers, allow us to represent numbers in a scale greater than number digits itself.
For example, with a 6 Digits magnitude FloatPoint number, considering A.BCDEF x 10^g , g can assume a value greater than 6.
