hi,
what is an emulation unit. I mean I know it emulates something. INstructions for example, but in what context on a SoC are they used and how do they function?

They aren't all emulators. Read, and explore if you like, this

Mea culpa
Sorry for this intrusion. I confused "emulation unit" with "emulation unix"

years ago

Some years ago it was a circuit or system that acted just like a microprocessor. It was connected by a cable to the PC card that used the microprocessor and pluggged into the IC socket (back then it was a socket) that the microprocessor would go.

I think quickturn may be a provider for emulator.
also aptix. you an find it on web
