What is a power line ?

Will there be a power line noise in DC power supply used in labs?

How to remove it ?

Is notch filter enough?

How to design notch filter?

Explain with diagrams.

sorry, its "What is a power line noise?"

Re: how to remove power line noise ?

you can add large capacitor in parallel with the supply voltage , the noise in the supply voltage can come from the supply itself like during converting from A.C to D.C. The noise can also couple from the circuit to the supply in case of the digital circuit switching operation, therfore it is recommended to set up the ground of the analog from that of the digital

Re: how to remove power line noise ?

The source of the noises are diverse with out knowing if we cannot rightly point to the solution, But if it is a AC ripple then the capacitor can smoothen it out for you

if there is only 1 power supply, how can you seperate ground of analog and digital?

Re: how to remove power line noise ?

A good lab supply will have negligible power line noise in its output.

If the power line noise is a pure sinewave then a notch filter will remove it. But it has harmonics that a notch filter will not remove.
