What is charge pump, and where I can find more info about it? I mean which book?

You don't need a book with 1000 pages to understanding a charge pump.
Google to ICL7660 from Intersil. In the datasheet is a detailed discription.

Re: Charg Pump

Gomez, thank you very much for help.
I found it, especially App notes was really useful.
It seems that this type of regulators are useful just for small currents!
What do you suggest?

Re: Charg Pump

In pll design , charge pump is switch current source.

best regards

Yes thats right. For small currents you need no choke with a charg pump. But for more current you need a boost converter (or inverter).

charge pump is simply a circuit you can force current in or out, generally such circuit has a capacitor to be a storage of charge

Re: Charg Pump

Is it possible to set same charge pump current for complete bandwidth of synthesizer because i need to change the current to improve phase noise at different frequency my phase noise is diffrent when i operate my pll from 5.9 Ghz to 6.1 Ghz with same charge pump current.

Thanks & best Regards
