choosing embedded os

I DOING A PROJECT IN EMBEDDED SYSTEMS AND I WONDER WHAT OS TO USE.PLEASE HELP.

Hi,

First u have to decide whether ur application really need os , if so , somany os
are there example RT LINUUX,VXWORKS,RTX51 .are available depends upon
ur hardware u have to choose ur os.

Can you please give me little more details. Like speed/space limitation. Is there any RTOS around which will work on AT89C51. I'm newbie to RTOS.

check out tinyos. It has a totally different coding approach.

If you are new and dont have much background of RTOS then i would suggst you to use National Insruments Real time platform with LabVIEW and LabVIEW RT.. its not only powerful but extremely easy to use... lot of tutorials and examples code are also available... for further information u may wanna checkout www.ni.com

a. What type of scheduling you need preemtpive cooperating , robin round ....
b. Number of tasks or threads
c. Protective memory mamanagement MMU presence
d. Target Platform
e. Overhead
f. Availability of toolkits (grap, disk access ...)
g. Needed OS services
h. Royality fee
i. Availability oif support, source code , development environment
k. RAM ROM usage
l....

i think before going to any other OS u ve to read ucos first o for ucos-ii or its book by Jean J Labrosee go for reading u got the thing
