What does the spec on the Relay tells us?

why it has both DC and AC?

I see 3 sets of switches

then I see A1 to A2 is a coil.
 

Because the actuating coil is designed to operate from 12 volts dc.

But the electrical contacts are rated to work up to 250 volts ac, and up to 10 amps, or even 400 volts ac at reduced current.

Two very different things.

So it can work with either DC or AC?
 

Hi,

The coil shows it needs DC (12V); the contacts (1>12/14, 21>22/24, 31>32/34) are supposed to be used with AC. ...If you feel adventurous and use the contacts with DC, the voltage and current must be derated accordingly. Read up on datasheets for - e.g. - single or double pole switches rated for AC and DC to get an idea, the voltages and currents are lower for DC usage.
