What are the industry standard GPS brands? I know GPS modules like SIM, Linx. And I also know few which are not robust not worthy of mentioning. Is there anyone who knows aby GPS manufacturers who make good GPS devices?

Hmmm... Anyone with an idea who have been able to develop an industry level development with GPSs?

Im jurst wondering if anyone has experience using GLONASS or similar technologies to get an idea of some good brands.

Google is your friend. Try that first at least.

Ublox is the one I use for most of my designs (when customers don't have their own preference) - they're very good and robust.

Trimble and QinetIQ are also good options. Please note that these aren't low cost products.

of course I did a google search. but what happened was there were too many results I find it difficult to trust which one is okay and which one is not. So I decided I should shoot the question here.

And thanks Shaiko, yes, ive heard of Ublox. but I havent heard of Trimble and QineIQ. I will check on them.
hey, do you by any chance know what samsung, apple nokia devices use? do they have their own brand?

They used to use a GPS chip set called SiRF.
From what I know - today many of the smartphone manufacturers use a GPS that's integrated into their SOC. For example Qualcomm's Snapdragon has an on silicon GPS (!)...

Oh I see!

thanks for your reply shaiko. I thought all manufacturers develop devices from hround up.

DO you know what are the military level GPS modules? Are the ones you claimed to be expensive considered to be of such standard? Could you please tell me how its possible to find out about such modules?
