What are the guard ring usage guidelines ?

Guard ring guideline

When should you use guard ring? What is the rule of thumb? Should I place in any sensitive device which I care? Can I place around mimcaps?

i think guard ring is for protext sensitive circuit node such as input of opamp to avoid inteference that may come out from other nearby wire/node

i think a rule of thumb is to consult datasheet to see which node is sensitive. although it is always safe to put in guard ring, but it may add some difficulties to layout.

Guard rings are served to isolate device from outside substrate. You have to be more specific in your question. Do you worry about parasitic cap to sub under your mim cap? The need for guardring in this case depends on the frequency of operation and type of the circuit. "The Art of Analog Layout" by Alan Hastings is a good place to start:
