Hi All
I am confused with RFID standard EPC and ISO.
What are the differences and relationships between them?
Which standard weshould folow if we want design RFID tags and readers?

iso 18000 standard vs epc

Hi,

EPC and ISO both are standard, so all the readers can read both format.

Re: EPC and ISO standard

electronic product code. EPC is the RFID version of the UPC barcode. EPC is intended to be used for specific product identification. However, EPC goes beyond UPC by not only identifying the product as an SKU, but also providing access to additional data (via the EPC Network) about the origin and history of the specific units. The EPC tag itself identifies the manufacturer, product, version, and serial number. It's the serial number that takes EPC to the next level

EPC and ISO standard

They two set of standards on rfid. EPC standards include not only tag and reader, but also whole system. Iso 18000 standards focus on tag and reader. The most important part of iso standards is part-6 type-B, which is compared with epc class-1 spec. Epc has issued class-1 generation-2 standards and proposed it to ISO as iso-18000 part-6 type-C. Not all readers can access both type tags
