i am trying to remove noise from a voltage signal i obtain.

I plan to use the wavelet toolbox to do the denoising.

after reading the tutorial below, and the help file on wavelet toolbox in matlab help.
**broken link removed**

Using the GUI for 1 dimensional discreet wavelet transform,
it seems to be able to split the noisy signal to A and D.
which i believe stands for approximation and details.

the approximation being the denoised signal and details being the noise.

but which wavelet should i use? and what level should i use?
all wavelet seems to work.
by using higher level, the signal becomes less noisy, but at the same time it loses detail as well.

i'm confused about this, googling on wavelet toolbox often lead me back to the matlab help
and searching for wavelet only leads back to the theory.

what i want to know is What wavelet to use, and what level of decomposition is the most suitable?

Try Binary Wavelet first ! and try more resolution ... then look at output signal , be require of your work or not ?

Decision may depend on how the output of wavelet near similarly to symtom datum by graph's comparision in Quadatics plane.
