Hi Friends..,

We are doing the mini project WATER LEVEL INDICATOR/CONTROLLER using FPGA. Please, suggest me how to proceed to do project. I don't know FPGA basics also. Please, give me a clear information. Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi,

You can't measure water level with an FPGA.

You first have to decide/specify your water level sensor.
Optical? Accoustic? Mechanic? Resistive? ...

The simplest solution is a pocket rule and your eyes... i'm sure you don't want this, because there is no FPGA.
If you want to go the hard way, then use a pocket rule and a camera, feed the digital picture information to the FPGA an do some image processing with the FPGA. I don't recommend this for a beginner.

You see the range...

--> give more information.

Thanks for your response Klaus. But, what information is needed for this.? Why can't we measure the water level using FPGA.? Can't we use any sensor.? If not, why.?

This is a transducer problem. If we could easily solve that, then the job is practically done.

Several threads have discussed how to detect water and fuel level. The idea is to avoid moving parts, avoid getting wires corroded, avoid poisoning fish. Etc. There are many clever and creative approaches. All require effort to make them work satisfactorily.

The easiest and most reliable method is a mechanical float, similar to the kind in our car's gas tank.
