It is a modification of a coal furnace which heated garage.
Assumptions:
- keep the existing furnace in a condition enabling for rapid transition (without re-processing)
- simple system
- cheap
- not expensive fuel
Construction:
The furnace was based on a typical furnace of tube 250 dia, in which burning takes place „from the top”. In order to burn waste oil, a „pan” was made of tube 150 dia and 5mm plate. The „pan” heats up and the oil flowing down into it boils and the vapors burn. There is a grate above the „pan”, which additionally heats using radiation, what causes better evaporation of oil and hence better combustion. Oil is fed to the furnace by a fi 10 steel tube which reaches the furnace by drilled in the body of the furnace. There is a rubber hose connected to that tube, which is connected to a valve in the tank with oil from the other side. The valve regulates the flow of oil to the furnace and closes the flow completely. The valve is tinned to the tank with oil in a certain height from the bottom so bigger pollution and water do not get inside the furnace. On the bottom of the tank (it was a 10l canister), there is a screw, through which water from the tank can be drained.
