hello everyone,

I want to make voltage regulated power supply of 1 to 15V output with 8A maximum load.

Is this IC LM3150 useful for this design?

Yes you can use this IC for variable output,
For mains step down transformer, rectifier & Filter capacitor design you will have to follow the same calculation as linear power supply , (although filter cap can be optimized if your lowest ripple tip is higher than your max output voltage i.e. for 15V output it can be 3V higher at full load).
Note here that the output ripple of this power supply will be higher than the linear solution.

thank you rvionics,

I have 20V dc input supply for this.

I have an evaluation board **broken link removed** for this purpose.
which gives 3.3V at 10A max load.

the datasheet of **broken link removed**

which components on the evaluation board should I change for 1 to 15V output?

and why the ripple in output is larger?

thank you.

According datasheet, is not possible to use that IC to perform this task, due input range must vary between 6V and 42V, that is out of your specifications.

thank you,
why I cant use?
i think its not necessary that input must vary.
my input is 20V dc and its between the range of 6 to 42V.
with some modification I can use this board for my purpose.

but I dont know exactly which components I should change for this purpose.

thank you.
