via current capacity

I need a calculator to calculate the current carrying capcity of Via

via current carrying capacity

Try this calculator: LINK

Also, here is a document by Doug Brooks that gives some equations for via current carrying capacity

You might try the 'PCB toolkit' from Saturn PCB Design.

It is freeware.

I will second the PCB Toolkit, it is a very useful all around PCB tool

via current calculator

A rule of thumb for the current capacity of a via is that a via with an internal diameter of x will carry 3 times the current of a trace on the same board with a width of x.
This is based on the fact that if you opened the via out into a straight line, it's width would be Pi * D.
