Try to get your hands on the Vasco VHDL course - a brilliant interactive Macromedia Flash tutorial.

i read this book and i found it very good for beginners:
VHDL for Designers isbn:0-13-473414-9

Re: VHDL from zero...

Hi ZeleC.

I agree with amir81 that the book "VHDL for Designers" is very good. I read also another books:

- Peter J. Ashenden: The VHDL Cookbook (First Edition), July 1990, http://www.ashenden.com.au/ (I attached it)

- Cohen, B.: VHDL Coding Styles and Methodologies ..an In-Depth Tutorial, Kluwer Academic Publishers, Boston/Dordrecht/London, 1995, ISBN 0-7923-9598-0

- Cohen, B. : VHDL Answers to Frequently Asked Questions Second Edition, Kluwer Academic Publishers, Boston/Dordrecht/London, 1998, ISBN 0-7923-8115-7

Books from Ben Cohen are very very good. He mentioned there also many problems of the design synthesis. Try to get it somewhere. In the attachemend is one paper for VHDL modelling.

SW tools - I was using for a long time SW tools from Mentor Graphics (ModelSim, Leonardo, Renoir) and I can recommend them to you. But you can also download free tool Webpack from **broken link removed** It inlcludes also some version of ModelSim.

I hope it will help you.

Bye
