I am trying to build a balun in Ansoft Designer V2.1. I thought I'd start with a simple 50Ω microstrip line, since I'm new. Very simple - .031" Rogers 5870 (εr=2.33), W=.092". I drew the trace and a large ground plane in CAD and imported the DXF. I then added probe ports to each end of the trace (total length = 7", roughly). I simulate it, and the VSWR is 2.5:1 - 3:1. NOT GOOD! There is definitely something wrong. I think it's in the way I define the ports. I know this is simple, but can someone please help an Ansoft newbie? I can't imagine this code is that far off!
