Velocity of mechanical waves

what determines the speed of mechanical waves,

and what is the speed to water ripples.

it depends on the density of the medium through which it is propagating.....

the velocity equation has too many parameters to consider like input energy, amplitude, density of medium etc... it is generally tabulated for mechanical wave like sound....
i'm not that sure of a equation to characterise it....
