velleman 8048

Hi.

This my first time trying to programme a PIC.

I have a Velleman 8048 programmer. The programming software is included on a mini disc provided with the programmer.

I am trying to get the sample "running led" programme working, using the 16F627I micro supplied.

When I click on "write", I get a message saying "K8048 not found at COM 1" . I have Picaxe programming editor on my PC. I don't know if I have a conflict, as I do not know how to configure COM1. Also, I had to make a temp serial cable and I have connected pins 2,3 and 5 straight through, not crossed in any way.

I would appreciate any idea's as to why things are not working.

David Miles.

PICAXE software (programmer) if it is not running doesn't matter ..
Try direct 9 pin RS-232 cable all pins connected ..
