Hi All,

Actually i am facing issue to convert Variable 60V DC to 5V DC.
I am using PIC controller, It will accept max 5V input.
So I need to convert that 60V in to 5V. Please suggest me.

Is there any IC's availalble in market.?
Or I want to use any circuits.

THANKS in ADVANCE.

Hi,

DC in DC out:
it simply is called "DCDC converter" or "DC/DC converter" or similar.
For this high input voltage I recommend to use a "switched mode power supply" = "SMPS".
Because input voltage is higher than output voltage it is called "step down" or "buck" converter.

If you do a simple internet search you will find out, that there are ready to buy devices and there are ICs for almost any power requirement.

For very low load current you may use a linear regulator circuit. It is very lossy and becomes warm / hot.

Hi,

Analog voltage? A voltage divider? Two resistors?
What current (range)? What precision?

Klaus

A 12:1 resistor divider feeding an opamp buffer (preferably a R-R opamp)

Use a voltage divider, just add two resistors, use this Calculator to check the exact value of output. Just insert the values of input and resistors and you'll get the output. For you case I did the maths, added two resistors, one with 15 k ohm and other with 1 k and got the output of 3.750.

Voltage from battery bank around 60V.
current range will be 30Ah.
I used voltage divider 100 Ohm and 10 ohm for testing.
But, Is voltage divider is possible for this much current range in real time?

Thanks in Advance

Hi,

30Ah is "charge" not "current".

There is not a single "current" specification in this thread.
Additionally you didn´t say what this voltage divider is used for.

Therefore I can not recommend any resistor values.

Your post is like asking for water, but it is not clear if you want to drink something, or you want to fill a swimming pool.

I calculate about 30 W power dissipation for the 100 ohm resistor. Is this what you want?
