V-A product performance?

Hi,

I'm reading some papers and in there they always menioned V-A product which I think a switch performance metric. Is this a fixed figure of merit in IC design? can you suggest some refrerences that expalin it more?

thanks for your suggesion, I know Seeman is doing optimization using V-A product. my question though, Is this a common figure of merit that designers take care of when designing IC? I may refer this product to power loss in the swith, but also it can be the total rated voltage and current for the switch. my point, I have not seen this product as a basic parameter to design IC.

Hi, sorry about that, misread the original question... Don't know the answer. You would think it were a typical indicator/fom for a power device as not much merit in an ic which wastes more energy converting than it can output or can only output 1ma, for example. Sorry I can't be of more help.
