Hello,

I wish to use the TLVH431 to get opto-isolated feedback in an offline SMPS.

The problem is that this SMPS has an output voltage of 36V, and the maximum allowable cathode voltage of TLVH431 is 20V.

Do you think that it is possible to use the TLVH431 here?

...and is the following the best way to do it... i.e. using a cascoded BJT instead of a series zener since a series zener will give a sort-of bad on/off control as it transitions repeatedly in and out of its zener state.
