Hi,

I have a project that uses a 18F4620 (5V part) and a SN75176 (5 V part), I intend to run the 18F4620 using 3.3V and the SN75176 on 5V.

Inputs to the SN75176 will be 3.3V and the input to the 18F4620 will be 5V.

Is this workable ?? I know the SN75176 can run only on 5V. But from the datasheet I see the minimum low is 2V, so I feel this should work.

Please suggest...

thanks

yes in one only condition you choose cmos 74 chips like 74H..5176. thes chips are compatible with cmos voltages like the pic you're using.

Good day
i just check the datasheet when i seen your post , meanwhile the minimum High level input of SN75176 can be 2 volts (works with 3.3 v) , if you want to run the 18F4620 on 3.3V . the input cannot exceed 3.3 V + 0.3 V , this what the data sheet says
hope this helps
Regards

the output from the pic is 3.3v and the output from the 75176 is 5v, the 18f4620being a 5v device should have no problem.

are there any problems in this arrangement..
