Unipolar stepper motor voltage rating problems...

I have a unipolar stpp Motor which is rated at 22V for appropriate operation....I have to use it in an application requiring high torque....which is only possible at and above the rated voltage...but the problem is that I dont find any good battery source which is compact and operating at 22V...I wound one operating at 12V

How do I get enough torque and speed out of the 22V motor considering I operate it at 12V supply @ 1.2A?

my ideas:...use a big capacitor between the source and Gnd which is rated at say 50V....???

No it will never give the voltage required.

Try using DC to Dc converter

U have to use power supply required by the step motor. Low voltage will decrease torque. Use DC-DC converter and drive the motor in unipolar double coil energizing for high torque. i.e 2 coils are energized at the same time. For higher speed u have to use higher voltages and regulate the coil current. Bi-polar drive is used for higher speeds. It is difficult to achieve high rpms on uni-polar
