It is a design of stereo amplifier with a selector, inluding remote control, without any regulations, with smooth panel without buttons. Uniamp was used as a power amplifier.
Housing:
1mm stainless sheet was cut using a laser, then painted with black matt spray. Sides of the amplifier were made of threshold of the door (hard wood) and painted with semi-gloss clear lacquer for wood. Sheets and sides were screwed together using square wooden profiles. Front panel was made of PA6 aluminum, milled on CNC. Then it was finished in slide method and anodized.
Sheets were screwed with ornamental screws with hexagonal heads. Feet were removed from an old amplifier and screwed using a normal screw M4. Front panel has a separate decorative ring made of aluminum. In addition, there is plexiglass on the board of the panel, behind which there is an IR receiver. Plexiglass was obscured by a dimming film for car windows. There were three layers of that film used, 70%. In addition, fornt panel protrudes about 5mm from the edges of amplifier and the volume potentiometer is mounted using a suitably bent plate.
Labels on the back side of amplifier were applied with a stamp, which gives them the „retro” look.
Electronics:
The main element of the construction is Uniamp 150, powered by transformer 2x35V/250VA. Home made driver is responsible for the „brain” of the amplifier. The driver is equipped with stand-by, selector, output switch, potentiometer motor control and control via RC5 remote control.
The amplifier has the following protections:
- short-circuit protection (uniamp)
- thermal protection (uniamp)
- protection against DC at the output (driver)
Additionally, both the driver and amplifier have an option of silent connecting and disconnecting the speakers. Selector and output switch are based on relays. The amplifier has 5 sound inputs and 1 output (you can connect subwoofer to it). There is a mains filter, and high voltage cables are put away from the housing.
