Hello,

I am using the custom board/PCB with ATSAME54P20A microcontroller embedded into it. Suddenly, I am getting "Unexpected chip identifier" error which I can't find solution to. Can anyone please help me how to solve this error.

I am using ATMEL ICE debugger with default clock setting of 2MHz, when I select programming options to "Erase only Program Area" and also "Erase Entire Chip" under Tool -> Programming options, i used to get this error.

Please help me with this issue.

There are two obvious reasons why this might happen--
1) a mismatch between the cpu cofigured in your ICE setup and actual cpu on the target board.
2) some fault in your connection between ice an board.

One other reason could be that your clock setting is incorrect. Some chips require a slow clock. Depends on fuse settings.
