Dear all,

I struggle to understand the interpretation of noise in papers about integrated analog front-ends for bio-impedance measurements.

These papers consider the "Rn noise density" measured as Ohm/sqrt(Hz) instead of the more familiar V/sqrt(Hz) or A/sqrt(Hz). As a result, the RMS noise is measured as Ohm_RMS and the SNR is defined as 20*log10(Rmax / (2*sqrt(2)*Rmin_RMS)) or similar.

Please, could you explain these interpretation of the noise? What is the Rn noise density? If possible, could you provide a reference (e.g., a book or a paper)?

Here you can find some examples of papers about integrated AFE for read-out of bio-impedance:
  • 0.1109/JSSC.2023.3269671
  • 10.1109/JSSC.2022.3221478
  • 10.1109/ISSCC42614.2022.9731787

Thank you very much for your support.
