I have been reviewing the course on engineering electromagnetics. I am following book from William Hayt. I did not quite understand the objective of the course and how the subtopics covered connect to the objectives. Can anybody explain it?

The objective of the book is to teach basic electromagnetic theory with emphasis on its application in electrical engineering like transmission lines and antennas. If you want to really understand the matter and do creative engineering beyond applying predefined formulas and solutions, you won't get it cheaper.
