Hi,

I am looking for a very small LCD for near-eye-display application which is similar to Google glasses or Myvu glasses.
I would like the size less than 1 inch and resolution 640 x 480 or more.

After few days of searching I found 2 parts that look impressive:
Epson:
Panel Brand :
Epson

Brightness : 460 cd/m² (Typ.)
Contrast Ratio : 1280:1 (Typ.)
Display Colors : 16.7M (8-bit) , CIE1931 65%
Response Time : 3/10 (Typ.)(Tr/Td)
Viewing Angle :
Lamp Type : WLED Without Driver

Olightek:

Panel Brand : OLiGHTEK
Panel Model : SVGA050SC
Panel Type : AM-OLED , OLED
Panel Size : 0.5 inch
Resolution : 800(RGB)×600 , SVGA
Active Area : 10.13×7.61 mm
Outline : 22×17 mm
Surface :
Brightness : 70 cd/m² (Typ.)
Contrast Ratio : 10000 : 1 (Min.)
Display Colors : 16.7M (8-bit)
Viewing Angle :

However when I contact suppliers for procurement, the prices are more impressive: the Epson 's part costs ~250$ and the Olightek 's part costs ~350$ for quantity of 100pcs.

I wonder there are very cheap video glasses available on market, cost about 100 ~ 200$. How can they do that?

Can anyone give some advice where I can find such small LCD for this application?

Thank you very much.

Hi,

TI have a high definition 1cm x 0.5cm screen. I do not know the price. Maybe manufactured video glasses buy the parts in at least +k quantities, which must shift the price downwards to a degree.

Hi d123,

I could not find any TI screen, can you share the part number?

As far as I know, TI has Digital MicroMirror Devices (DMD) which is array of very small mirror that can switch to project the light toward some direction, this requires some optical system and is suitable for projector, not near-eye-display.
Example one of the DMD: DLP3000FQB is 0.3 inch resolution 608 × 684 and cost is about 119$ for 1k quantity (ref from Digikey).

Can you advice some other LCD or OLED display?

Thank you d123.
You are correct, TI DMD can be use to make near-eye-display :)
I am still seeking for LCD which may require less complicated optic system.
