Hello,

We have recently set up a solar installation, and are curious about how much energy our system produces. What we have decided to do is to have a hall effect current sensor on the main output wire, feeding a signal back to an ATmega8, at which point we would like the measurement broadcast over ethernet to a remote terminal. What ethernet controller would you suggest? A UART interface is a must.

I find the Lantronix XPORT serial to Enthernet componets work well

I have driven these at 921,600 bps use DMA on a PIC33

UC3A [32-bit] series from AVR have ethernet and UART... I was using UC3A1512 for UART to Ethernet project... It supports FREE RTOS too... Lot of sample codes and [drivers] Library files are freely available..

some Serial to Ethernet converter is also readily available in the market...
