Hi, I have problems finding big ferrite cores from my local suppliers. The inductors I'm looking for are E55/21 or E65 (3C90) but the larges I could find are E42/20. The inductor is to be used in a CCM PFC, total inductance about 350uH@10Adc peak.

I'm wondering if I could use two E42/20 with half the inductance (175uH) to replace the one bigger (350uH)?

Is there any problems coming from this solution?

Thanks.

There should be no problem using two series inductors instead of one larger one.

Keith.

No problem.
Also you can use Iron powder toroid(yellow/white) with smaller size for ccm mode.
Another solution is to use two smaller EE making a bigger one.(my favorite solution!)

There is no problem with this approach, the total amount of material used (Ferrite, copper) will be higher than for a single choke solution, regards, Orson Cart.
