driving long cables

Does anyone know where to download reading materials on how to driver signal in a long cable/lines? How to select proper part and cable types?

Thank you.

tutorial on signal transmission in cables

There are different techniques employed in signal transmission over long cables. Is your signal digital (serial differential data transmission) or analog (example: baseband video), or you just need general rules..

driving long cable

I would like to have something more in general. for example, if you use RS422 driver, how do you select cable types? For a given speed, what would be a maximum frequency can be run? How to calculate SNR at the receiver end?

For USB 2.0 PHY , how to model the cable in R/C/L for circuit simulation ?
