tusb3210 datasheet/schematic mismatch

tusb3210 schematics

Has someone build a circuit with the tusb3210?

In the datasheet pin 21 is stated as normal GND pin whereas in the evaluation schematic from TI it is labelled as BUS/~SELF and connected to +5V external supply and also tied to GND via 33R resistor...

Elektor have a project based on the TUSB3210 - in it they connect Pin 21 Self/Bus to Ground.

Here is the schematic. If you want any more of the article, let me know.

I've just checked the article, the circuit is bus powered - seems relevent given the name of the Self/Bus pin!

In the 2nd latest datasheet of TI (Nov. 2003) this pin is also labelled as SELF/nBUS but in Aug. 2004 it disappeared without notice on the revision page.

But since I need bus-powered anyway I'm gonna connect it via jumper to GND.
 

Hmm..and which datasheet covers the rest of the chip?

All the GPIO7Timer/UART and watchdog stuff is missing...do I just need a plain8052 datasheet for that?
 

TI recommends using the Intel 8051 standard reference in conjunction with their datasheet, here:

Quote from TI's site: "The user is expected to be familiar with the 8052 MCU"

In other words, they can't be bothered writing their own!

Oki..

Got reply from TI saying that:

"Pin 21 is GROUND. The TUSB3210 and TUSB2136 have a common MCU architecture and much of the collateral was developed jointly for both devices. The SELF/BUS is a hub pin that is needed in the TUSB2136 that is not applicable in a non-hub device and should be corrected on the TUSB3210 schematics."
