[Apologies if this is covered in another topic/forum: I looked around but couldn't find anything]
I'm working on a LabVIEW-controlled carbon capture and storage exhibit, which operates a pressure swing adsorption system, extracting CO2 from gaseous input, and storing it in a simulated aquifer. I'm using NI hardware to drive solenoid valves and a variety of visual indicators. The exhibit also involves various DC and AC systems, which I control using TTL outputs from an NI card; for example, LabVIEW triggers some 230 Vac low induction components with a circuit comprising a 6N137 optocoupler, triggering a CRYDOM AS0242 (2A) relay. There's minimal inductive load in these cases, so there's no real need for any snubber.
After all that, my question: the PSA system also involves the turning on and off of an air compressor and a vacuum pump (both rated ~240W, 230Vac), and I'd like to use a similar optocoupler->relay circuit to control them. Looking at CRYDOM specs, there are suitably high current relays, but I'm concerned that I'll need some snubber circuit: these units are sure to offer a fair inductive load. Can anyone suggest suitable components for such a snubber? (Or wearily point me to a link...) Many thanks, Peter
