What is IR switching frequency in case of Vehicle???Can we use TSOP for detecting Vehicles??
 

TSOP1738 is an IR receiver module for remote control applications. What connection does this have with vehicles?

what do you mean by "IR switching frequency in case of a vehicle"?:?:

TSOP1738 will detect 38KHz modulated IR signal, basically from an IR Led.
Also it will not detect continuous 38KHz. Check the datasheet for more details..
 

have generated 38khz with a 555timer and connected infrared leds at its output pin, then fed it to an oscilloscope and found out that it is giving a frequency of 38khz.the problem is that the output of my receiver is always high,pliz help
 

While it's receiving the IR beam the output is supposed to be high all the time.
You will have to show us some schematics and explain where the vehicle is involved for us to help.

Blind spot detection system uses either Ultrasonic or Short Range RADAR for detecting other vehicles. No IR is used.
TSOP1738 will only detect IR waves modulated at 38 kHz from IR source.

For vehicle detection it's really difficult to plonk the IR source and detect it using IR Receiver since it has very sharp
LOS.

Mate I told about real time blind spot detection system that are being currently deployed in automobiles.

Why do you think IR is not real time ? And why you think this is not good for usage ?

Every manufacturer have own solutions for some situations. These solutions can be different. Can you give us comparison between radar, ultrasound, IR in various aspects for implementation and usage, also cost and needed space?
 

Hi,
TSOP is a receiver, so, you can use it only if some device is transmitting the IR signal. Ofcourse, you cant have a receiver without a transmitter.
Also, IR transmitters come with different frequencies. TSOP1738 cannot sense IR waves of 40kHz. The convention of TSOP is this:
TSOP17xx, where, xx represents the frequency in kHz. Hence, TSOP1738 is a 38kHz receiver, while, TSOP1740 is a 40kHz receiver.
Now you can use TSOP1738, "if & only if" the vehicle is transmitting IR waves of 38kHz. But its NOT ADVISABLE TO USE IR because, it gets lots of interference from sun light (as it also contains IR Radiations) & also from humans (yes, they do emit small amounts if IR)
So, just see what your pplication is, & decide accordingly.

Maybe we should stop using IR remote controls and other IR tech outside or just over night.

Maybe manufacturers read this and change their products in some better solution.
