hfss out of memory

Hi,
I am running out of memory on HFSS. This is because hfss thinks that it has 3gb of physical system memory available. I want to trick hfss into think there is more system memory available. Is there a way to do this (i don't care if this slows down my simulation)?

I am running the program on a windows 64bit machine with 4gb of physical memory.

out of memory in hfss

You need a 64bit machine and a 64bit operating system, like Windows XP 64bit edition or Vista.
Anyway, if you have only 4GB installed it may be correct, that there is only 3GB available depending on your system's configuration: 4GB total minus Windows functions minus drivers minus other programs running (e.g. antivirus) minus shared memory for graphics adapter (depending on your mainboard).

Please try something: Remove one RAM-Chip and check it again. If you have 2GB installed and only 1GB for use, that is the problem. If you have 2GB installed and 1,6 or more available I assume your system running in a 32bit mode.
Or try installing more RAM, that would be the most convenient way.

The 64bit system with 4GB and 32bit-Windows (which I have) has 3.25GB available. That is because you cannot adress more than 4GB of memory with 32bit, and besides RAM some other components need to be adressed, like Cache and graphics ram.
